Ecosystems Analysis

Species survive, adapt and evolve within ecosystems they define and depend on. Understanding how species find and utilize critical resources, interact with prey, predators, competitors and other sympatric species and track environmental changes is fundamental to knowing how to conserve and manage those species. WEA favors using an ecosystem analysis (EA) approach to species adaptive capacity studies and environmental impact assessments in order to identify and account for key system features that can directly or indirectly affect species success and long-term viability.

EA services WEA provides, generally conducted coincident with species specific surveys and research studies, include:

  • Baseline wildlife, plant, and vegetation inventories
  • Ecosystem delineation and habitat mapping
  • Rapid ecological assessments
  • Biodiversity determinations
  • GIS and predictive modeling of ecosystem change
  • Acoustic / noise environment analysis
